Recently, the CopernicusLAC Chile team was part of two key events for geospatial information management. The first was the Eleventh Session of the United Nations Regional Committee on Global Geospatial Information Management for the Americas (UN-GGIM: Americas), held on 7 October, and the Seventh United Nations Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM) High-Level Forum, which took place from 8 to 10 October, both in Mexico City, Mexico.
During these meetings, the team had the opportunity to meet with representatives from Latin America and the Caribbean, presenting their work and discussing possible agreements on in situ data exchange. In addition, the harmonisation of land use and land cover map classifications, as well as urban atlases, were addressed, which are key issues for the advancement of sustainable resource management in the region. These initiatives highlight CopernicusLAC Chile’s commitment to international collaboration and innovation in geospatial data management, thus promoting sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean.
