CopernicusLAC Chile receives a visit from prominent authorities from Panama and the University of Chile

On Thursday, November 13, CopernicusLAC Chile welcomed a visit from Panamanian authorities interested in learning more about the Center’s work and its technological infrastructure at its offices located in the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (FCFM) of the University of Chile.

Among those in attendance were Enrique Antonio Jiménez Boyd, Panama’s ambassador to Chile; Francisco Guinard, deputy general administrator of Panama’s National Authority for Government Innovation (AIG)—an institution that contributes to the development of the CopernicusLAC Panama project—; Francisco Martínez Concha, Dean of the FCFM; and Alejandro Maass, Director of International Relations and Principal Investigator at the Center for Mathematical Modeling (CMM).

During the event, Florencio Utreras, director of CopernicusLAC Chile, presented the Center’s main initiatives and led a tour of the data center, where visitors were able to see firsthand the scientific and technological capabilities that support Earth monitoring and observation work.

This visit is part of a joint effort to strengthen international cooperation and promote scientific development in Latin America and the Caribbean. Both CopernicusLAC centers—Chile and Panama—are working in coordination to build capacity, exchange knowledge, and strategically use satellite data to support decision-making in the region.
