San Andres Island is part of the San Andreés, Providencia and Santa Catalina Archipelago, located in the southwestern Caribbean more than 700 km from the Colombian mainland. Integrated into the Seaflower Biosphere Reserve, the island lies on an extensive coral platform whose reef systems, seagrass beds and sandy banks create the characteristic range of sea colours. This insular environment, shaped by oceanic and geomorphological processes, forms one of the most distinctive marine landscapes in the Caribbean. The image corresponds to 17 August 2025 and was acquired by the Sentinel-2 satellite through the Copernicus Data Space.
