The speaker of this session is Claudia Fanelli, oceanographer, PhD in Applied Mathematics, and technologist at the National Research Council of Italy – Institute of Marine Sciences (CNR-ISMAR) in Naples, Italy.

In this session, Claudia will present the topic “Improving Sea Surface Temperature Products with Deep Learning in the Copernicus Marine Service”. The talk will be delivered in English.

Within the framework of the Copernicus Marine Service, this work highlights the experience of CNR-ISMAR (Italy) in producing sea surface temperature (SST) data over the Mediterranean and the Black Seas. The presentation will address the generation of daily high- and ultra-high-resolution products, the limitations of current interpolation methods, and the potential of deep learning models applied to super-resolution to enhance the effective resolution and accuracy of SST gradients.
