The speaker for this session is Jorge Félez-Bernal, geographer and PhD candidate in Land Use Planning and Environment (University of Zaragoza, Spain). He currently works as a researcher at the Department of Territorial Planning and Urban Systems at the EULA-CHILE Environmental Science Centre and the Faculty of Environmental Sciences at the University of Concepción.

In this session, Jorge will present the topic ‘Pyrogeography and climate emergency: Copernicus data to understand an alarming scenario in central Chile’.

The talk will focus on the uses of some of the Copernicus ecosystem products applied to fire science in Mediterranean environments in central Chile, addressing the study of pyrogeography through the integration of cloud computing tools (Google Earth Engine), as well as the range of applications that are currently changing the way Geographic Information is managed and decision-making in land use planning.
