Executive Coordinator of CopernicusLAC Chile participated in AmeriGEO Week 2025

The executive coordinator of CopernicusLAC Chile, Macarena Pérez, recently took part in AmeriGEO Week 2025, held in Bogotá, Colombia, from 11 to 15 August.

AmeriGEO is a collaborative framework that seeks to enhance coordination among members of the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) in the Americas, with the aim of advancing towards a future in which local, national and regional policies, decisions and actions are informed by Earth observations and information in a coordinated, comprehensive and sustainable manner.

AmeriGEO Week is recognised as an inclusive space that brings together diverse communities and fosters connections, encouraging collaboration between national, regional and international efforts in integrated social and Earth sciences research. These initiatives enable the combination of satellite observation data, socio-economic information, citizen science, ancestral knowledge and other sources with modelling, forecasting and scenario analysis that support decision-making in response to environmental, social and economic challenges.

During the event, Macarena Pérez met with the Planning Department of the Bogotá City Government, the Agustín Codazzi Geographical Institute (IGAC) and the Colombian Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies (IDEAM), and took part in a session of the Copernicus Academy, organised by the Latin American Cooperation of Advanced Networks (RedCLARA).

These opportunities helped to strengthen cooperation ties and explore new possibilities for joint work on the use of Earth Observation data for the benefit of the Latin American and Caribbean region.
