Ocean professionals participate in forum organised by the National Oceanographic Committee

Lucas Amézquita and Marina Hernández, project engineers at CopernicusLAC Chile, participated in the 7th Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems Forum (PERSIG), organised by the National Oceanographic Committee (CONA). The event brought together representatives from the scientific, academic and institutional worlds linked to meteorology, oceanography, geography and related disciplines.

During the conference, Lucas Amézquita presented CopernicusLAC Chile’s progress in developing services for coastal monitoring in Latin America and the Caribbean. In his presentation, he announced the launch of the monthly sea surface temperature product for 2024, scheduled for January 2026, as well as the development of the monthly chlorophyll product for 2024, which is expected to be available in April of the same year.

The event also featured presentations from institutions such as the Centre for Quaternary Studies (CEQUA), the Chilean Meteorological Directorate (DMC), the Military Geographical Institute (IGM), the Navy Meteorological Service (Servimet), the Talcahuano Meteorological Centre, as well as companies such as ESRI Chile, Magellan Space and Southern Tech, and representatives from the universities of Chile, Magallanes, Andrés Bello, Diego Portales and Santo Tomás.
