AQS2GEE is an innovative tool developed in Google Earth Engine to detect and classify burned areas using Sentinel-2 imagery quickly and efficiently. Thanks to its cloud processing and the use of spectral indices such as NBR and ΔNBR, it allows analysing the impact of forest fires without the need for specialised software. Its easy access and ability to generate maps and statistics in a few clicks make it an ideal solution for researchers, environmental managers and decision makers looking to improve fire monitoring and response.

The speaker for this seminar is Armando Rodríguez-Montellano, a forestry engineer with a master’s degree in natural resource and environmental geoinformation. He has more than 15 years of experience in geospatial modelling, fire risk, deforestation and big data in the cloud. He is a postgraduate lecturer at several universities and project manager in applied geomatics at Fundación Amigos de la Naturaleza. He also teaches Environmental Modelling and Satellite Image Processing at the Bolivian Catholic University ‘San Pablo’.
