This seminar will feature José Manuel Echevarría, PhD candidate in Marine Sciences at the Interdisciplinary Center for Marine Sciences (CICIMAR) of the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) of Mexico, who has more than 6 years of experience applying models to time series of multisensor satellite images, and has focused his work on remote sensing and Lagrangian modeling to understand the proliferation and transport of species such as pelagic sargassum.

The talk “Dynamics and transport of pelagic sargassum” will address the dynamics of pelagic sargassum in the Caribbean Sea, and will present a multispectral satellite detection framework to estimate its coverage, the Lagrangian modeling of its ocean transport.
