Copernicus EU

Copernicus is the European Earth observation system, which offers free and open access data and services Thanks to its Sentinel satellite network, which provides images of our planet with valuable information to be applied in areas such as agriculture, mining, urban planning, disaster management, environmental protection, among others.

The program is coordinated and managed by the European Commission, with the collaboration of Member States and key institutions such as the European Space Agency (ESA), the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT), the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), Mercator Ocean and other European Union agencies.

Vast amounts of global data from satellites and terrestrial, aerial, and maritime measurement systems are used to provide information that helps service providers, public administrations, and other international organizations improve the quality of life for European citizens. The information services provided are free and open to users.

EU-LAC Digital Alliance

The EU-LAC Digital Alliance is an initiative that seeks Strengthening cooperation between the European Union and the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean on a wide range of topics, such as digital policy dialogue, internet and data governance, infrastructure and connectivity, data security and protection, artificial intelligence and other emerging digital technologies.

Furthermore, it fosters capacity building, innovation and technological entrepreneurship, digital commerce, and space-related activities, such as the use of Earth observation data from the Copernicus program and satellite navigation services. It also promotes knowledge sharing and the transfer of experiences in areas such as digital citizenship, digitization of public services and records, digital identity, electronic signatures, and interoperability.
